Sound of Mind, American Beauties sophomore studio effort, was recorded at Ice Station Zebra in Medford, MA by three-time Grammy Award winning engineer Ducky Carlisle (Buddy Guy) and independently Produced by Michael Gray and Carlisle. The album was mastered by Nate Wood of Kerseboom Mastering in Brooklyn, NY (Felice Brothers, Esperanza Spaulding). The artists on the record are a conglomeration of Boston area musicians and songwriters who are among the finest studio and stage performers in the city: Marc Hickox (bass); Ducky Carlisle (drums); Brian A. King (keyboards, bass, and background vocals); Steve Sadler (lap steel guitar); Jonas Kahn (guitar); Amber Casares (background vocals); Jeff Allison (tambourine, background vocals) and songwriter Michael Gray (guitar, keyboards, harmonica, and vocals).
